If you saw the special issue of BELONG last month or visited the library recently, you may have heard about plans for a new entrance and plaza. While there have been a lot of nice upgrades inside the library in
recent years, the 60-year-old entryway is due for a makeover. The bright new glass entrance and portico will provide full visibility of the parking lot and cover from the elements--while the new plaza will have seating to enjoy a book or meet friends, as well as space to hold outdoor events. A capital campaign is under way to help fund this special project. Progress currently stands at 41%, and every gift--big or small--will help bring it to life. Follow
along with updates on the project page and help the library create a more welcoming entrance and outoor space by contributing online or by check (download a brochure & donor form here). Thank you! Want to learn more or have questions? Join us for an info session at the library on May 5 from 5:30–6:30 PM.

New health and wellness programs for adultsReady to feel your best? We’re excited to introduce two new opportunities designed to help you relax, recharge, and build strength—inside and out. Join retired RN Linda Thomas for Sit & Stretch, held the third Monday of each month from 6–7 p.m. and kicking off April 20. Using a chair for support (seated or standing), you’ll explore gentle stretching, breathing, and relaxation techniques that promote flexibility, balance, and mental clarity. And, learn
practical ways to navigate stress in Strengthening Stress Resilience Through Mindfulness, a 4-week program led by Sherry Baublitz of LVHN starting May 7. Through guided practices, reflective discussions, and accessible tools, you'll build skills to navigate challenges of all sizes with ease. Find more info in our online calendar. Registration is required for both programs--come try one or both and invest in your well-being!

Free seeds for your gardenOur seed library is restocked, thanks to a generous donation from Burpee! Stop in and pick up some packets to get your 2026 garden started. You'll find them in our former card catalog just past the desk while they
last. Choose up to four packets and bring them to the desk with your library card. Plant them, watch them grow, enjoy, and consider sharing some of your harvest with Plant A Row LV (stay tuned for this year's drop-off dates). You can also donate extra seeds back to the seed library if they're in a
sealed packet labeled with the seed name and date harvested. Have questions? Email Christine or call 610-965-9284.

On May 5 at 2 p.m., the daytime book group will meet to discuss Yellowface by R.F. Kuang, in which a struggling writer steals her deceased friend’s unpublished manuscript and passes it off as her own—only to find success tangled with guilt, deception, and mounting backlash. If a later time suits your schedule better, join the evening book group on May 12 at 6:45 p.m. for a discussion of The Lady and the Unicorn by Tracy Chevalier, in which the creation of a famed set of medieval tapestries brings together artists, patrons, and weavers in a story of ambition, relationships, and hidden tensions. And, there's also still time to join the evening book group on April 14 to discuss Mr. Mac and Me by Esther Freud, in which a lonely boy in early 20th-century England forms an unexpected friendship with architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh, changing both of their lives. Some copies of book club selections are available to borrow from the
desk.

February private-funding update
The private-funding thermometer rose by $8,820 in February, bringing the total for the year to $34,660 or 22.5% percent of the goal.
Donations accounted for roughly $2.5K of the total and included $1K from the Friends to support this year's Summer Reading Club. Thank you Friends! Tee Time sponsorships, ticket sales, and sales of raffle tickets contributed more than $4K, with annual fund donations adding nearly $800. Sales in the Friends’ Book Nook totaled $729 in February, with library services revenue of $575 for
printing/copying, missing/damaged items, etc., rounding out the rest. Speaking of the Friends, be sure to attend their biggest fundraiser of the year, the Friends of EPL Used Book Sale on April 24 & 25. It’s a great way to support the library while picking up some great items at
bargain prices! The book sale will be held at the library — which will be open for regular business on those days as well. Check out other ways to show your support for EPL throughout the year — including gift or memorial books, volunteering, and more.

There's a new art exhibit up in the children's wing, featuring the work of Nicolette Winnaar Smith. Stop in and have a look on your next visit! The ongoing art exhibits
bring so much life and color to the library, and we are most grateful to the Lehigh Art Alliance and all the talented artists who have exhibited their work over the years. Many of the works on display from art exhibits are available for sale through the Lehigh Art Alliance, and your
purchase helps support the library. Contact Sue Skoras for prices and info.
